Waking up

So what is the best way to wake yourself up whenever tired and its 7:30 in the morning? Splashing water on the face, eating something, drinking caffeine or simply taking a shower. I put my alarm on for 7:30 this morning and then turned if off only to wake up 20 minutes later and realize that it was time for class. This one girl was blow drying her hair and then as she walked out the restroom we crashed into each other. I always stick my hand out the window to see how cold it is then I had change back into warm clothes.

My Fall Break weekend

This weekend was awesome! I found someone driving to Houston and she was an RA and she was able to drop me off at my Dads work just in time when he got off. So I went home with him. It all worked out wonderful and I had a great weekend. I stayed with my family and thursday went to the Klein Collins football game. It went double overtime and then we won. It was televised and right now we are undefeated making us number one in the district. Yay! I downloaded more songs on my Itunes taking advantage of the fact that I was home and able to do that. I went out to eat Vietnamese food with my mom and went shopping. After that I went to Silverado Imax and saw a movie called Law with Jamie Fox. It was a good movie. I went with my mom the next day to her teacher management workshop and we went out to eat with the Assistant Principal and another lady. We ate at Niel's restuarant and it was very very good. The biscuits were the best and I had fried tilapia, cabbage, and potatoe casserole. Then I went to the Bible group study and ate Rudies BBque. It was good too, they had bbque, beef, chicken, sausage, sweet beans, mashed potatoes and the sauce was great and spicy the way I like it. On the way to Houston and the way back to Abilene we stopped at Waco and the Richland mall. I ate at Subway both times and it was great. I love Subway.

School

So I need to speak with a counselor on how to do well in school possible plan out how I am going to do my work/study habits better. I would love to ask some counselor what the best way is to focus on school and stop being distracted by other things. Many things can distract you like health, sleep, reading, movies, or eating. Basically I would love to put my mind in the best state possible to actually like studying and everything like that. I am getting good grades but it is tuff work and requires so much studying. All of this is like having an actual job so that is what it feel like so far. Hopefully all this work will pay off in the future and then I can make lots of money and have a good job which gives me respect.

Putting away my clothes

So I have many clothes under my bed. Is it laziness that keeps me from putting them away or that I just don’t feel as if there is a need to keep it clean under there? I have a chair that right now holds a couple pairs of jeans, a jacket, socks, scarves, sleeping clothes and t-shirts. With all these clothes its no wonder they are all over the floor. I need to put them away. I do have many clothes so it would be best if I just spent a little extra time and put them nicely in my closet and then washed all the ones that were dirty. I feel as if its okay though to wear every single thing in my closet before actually washing anything so I will have to see how well this strategy works. Hopefully I can overcome and get the clothes put away properly.

Studying

I am trying as hard as possible to study and keep my mind focused on it. Its so hard to keep my mind focused on studying though when there are so many other things around me to keep me distracted. Things like movies, books, eating, friends, sleeping, myspace, my boyfriend, cleaning, and even doing laundry. Studying is becoming something that is really hard work for me and even remembering to do it too! I have been sick with allergies and then I was getting better with antibiotics. So all this is just distractions from getting done what needs to be done here at college. The whole point of coming here was to learn so I am doing so but I wish it weren’t so hard. The only goal I have is though to make good grades and all A’s so I am really trying my hardest to make it. I need the power of prayer.

Today

Today I went to business in the morning and then went back to my room to sleep a little before chapel taking advantage of the extra sleep. Naps are becoming a great pastime for me since they are much needed. This Weekend is the homecoming game and the parade before. I will be in the parade for Shades. Yep so this week is pretty busy with practice and everything. I am also doing well in my classes and I'm sure I did well on my astronomy test. I have been having so many tests and also projects to do so its pretty stressful right now.

Today

I am learning so much from studying in my different classes. I feel as if I have been a smarter person and that I know many random facts now like things in books. Like for example a solar eclipse is when the moon goes in front of the sun and only happens every 18.5 years and covers an area of 800 km and a lunar eclipse is when the earth is is front of the sun which turns the moon a red color. So this and also watching movies is a pastime. Studying, reading interesting books, and watching good movies is how I am learning more things. Right now at this point I'm trying to fulfill my curiosity about things in life and become more mature to. So all this education is helping me do that. Music is also something that I love so much. All kinds too like salsa, reggae ton, meringue, bachata, cha-cha, hip-hop, rock, rap, southern rap, country, tech no, house, dance and more types of music. I know so much music that I could probably be a dj seriously. So that is what's going on in my life right now.

Curving Appetite

So when it seems like being skinny or healthy at all is not even an option does that make it okay for us to consume tons of junk food and caffeine? When someone is just lazy, bored, or depressed then they might start eating for the heck of it. Eating is a fun thing. Pizza, chocolate, soda, steak, ice-cream and so much more good things. So where is the borderline? When someone is completely full in there stomach and they keep eating just to eat cause the food is good stuffing themselves as much as possible is this such a good thing? No, now because we live in America and have more food than other developing countries we eat so much and now most are getting fat. No working out is even necessary anymore. It is so easy for people to just be lazy, watch reality television and relax at home. So eating becomes something to do while they watch movies. When running or any form of physical exercise is incorporated into our daily lives then eating junk food is not the only way to get energy and the sunlight from being outdoors gives the body energy. Even trying to eat healthy for one week straight can help to train the body into a healthy mode.

Studying

So I have been studying all day today and getting things done. One thing I just realized that being smart in knowing random facts actually helps you because when you know things that are interesting then you become a more interesting person. Things like health facts, which vitamins help your body, and other random stuff about the body or science is helpful. Knowing movies, music, actors and artists also makes you more interesting because it contributes to being a more knowledgeable person. The ultimate thing to be able to talk with people and make them interested in your conversation would be politics because everyone has different views and actually knowing what is going on with our government helps you especially when it comes to new laws.

Goal to Lose Belly Fat

It is very hard for any person to lose their belly fat in general since this fat is tougher than other fat on the body and harder to get rid of. I think that my new goal of losing this small chub that I have is a great one which motivates me to eat very healthy foods, drink plenty of water and exercise regularly. When I was on the swim team for my high school I became very physically in shape and also when I joined the cross country team my freshman year. Running gives you a natural high and feels great when you are in shape. When your body feels good so do you and this helps your whole being. I felt so great about myself and now it is my goal to get in shape again. I am going to try and run, or do some form of physical activity. The Shades step team can also helps me since I have made the team and we performed at Balloon Festival for Southern Hills Church of Christ. I am also doing sit ups in order to help myself out with the goal of losing belly fat.

My Day

I had a good day today. Woke up early for class and then took notes diligently. Walked to English and turned in my essay with a good feeling about it. Then Went to chapel and ate lunch afterwards. I went to Astronomy class and took notes again. I have also decided to start making flash cards for tests weeks in advance so that when test taking time comes I have already studied for it and can feel good about myself to make a good grade on the test. Studying in advance is very general since a review sheet has not been given to me but at least I can study the main points in the chapters since I have an idea somewhat of what will be on the tests or at least it can help me to learn more and further my knowledge in the class. My Hard classes are Business, Astronomy, Finite Math, and I am loving my other classes which are U-100 seminar, Life and Teachings of Jesus, and English composition. I studied very hard for my first tests in Astronomy, Business, and Finite Math and now I know how it will be like for the next upcoming tests. I hope to do very well and I am going to start studying early to help myself especially with the flash cards.

School is a Full Time Job

No matter what anyone tells me I believe that school is a full time job. We are in high school from seven thirty in the morning to two thirty eight hour day every day of the week. Constantly having homework, essays, assignments and tests to work on when were not in class. The school tries to govern our every little action because they fill us up with so many assignments that something it is very overwhelming and stressful for a student to have to deal with. Even a very good student like myself can become stressed by all the upcoming tests and things we constantly have poured down our throats. It can be very tiring especially for the mind to absorb so many details about things right before a test and have to memorize tons of unnecessary facts that have to deal with a random subject we will never come across in our lives again. Only in school will you have to memorize what a mitochondria looks like or how many seconds it takes a ball to be thrown across a field. Things in anatomy class, physics, or math are great but sometimes the teacher needs to chill out and stop thinking their subject is the one and only wonderful subject in the world. Or a teacher can stop assigning so many thing to a kid when they are already overloaded with homework from other teachers. When all teachers believe they have to do as much possible to assign enough homework for the weekend is when it becomes a problem for the student who has to suffer through all the the mountains of work assigned. So being a student is a full time job and work is required very much so. Many students work harder than teachers too since students labor till three in the morning or so just to study for a test given by the teacher who only simply runs them through a scanning machine which doesn't require effort of any sort. So with all these college graduates working long tedious hours for a degree hopefully the economy will recover enough to offer them jobs when they get out of school

Young Adults Getting a Job

For so many young people in the workforce it is becoming very difficult to find a job in the recession. When a company becomes so picky as to require the maximum degree possible, three plus years of experience, wonderful references and even a perfect resume it becomes a competition for the working people. Even college students coming out of college are having hard times finding a job. Adults are taking kids jobs at fast food restaurants to, at Taco Bell we had many adults come looking for a job. A father brought his whole family and all were working at Taco Bell just to survive. They came from Florida and he was a construction worker who couldn't afford to support his family anymore since his job was failing him. No more construction jobs were available so both daughters started working at Taco Bell. Two other teenagers brother and sister were working there since both dropped out of high school. Their families as well struggling with the economy. It has become so hard for many people to find decent jobs and filling out applications better be something you get used to because many are not even hiring at all. One biology teacher even sent out over 200 applications and never was called back. How hard is it to find a job with all this technology and jobs are being sent over seas to cheaper labor. Where we can start up a business in China and pay those people as little as two dollars a day and then make huge profits. Selfish ambition is driving American jobs to other countries. It is even hard for me to find a job. As hard as I've tried I cannot find one. I have sent out applications all over and no one even calls. My application is filled out and I printed out several copies of it to hand out to different places with no luck whatsoever. Now I am wondering whether the people who have these jobs know how lucky they are to even have a job and that many college students would willingly take their place. I have applied at The Bean, The calling center and to be lobby person. All these spots are filled and it makes one wonder if the person you are handing your application is trustworthy to give it to the manager or just rip it up so that they can have less competition. It would be an easy feat for an employee to throw away an application of someone in search of a job so that they will not have to work harder.
All this had made me so angry and now I want to start my own business to make money. Someway I will have to find out what I can possibly sell to college students and if I can even make some sort of profit. I would love to think of something smart to sell to these students here.

Health car for young students

First of all I would like to say that young students in college are flushed with so many difficulties upon entering college. At the bottom of the workforce ladder and with no education it is very hard for a teenager to get a job. Even a minimum wage job such as Mcdonalds, or Taco Bell is even very hard for young adult. These jobs are fought for by all high school students in the area and as many as 50 applications might come in for the job every day. They will turn in their applications hoping to recieve a job based on their gpa in high school and the contact references written down. Little do they know in this economy Adults are now fighting for these low income jobs. Coming from Florida and California to Houston they take teenager jobs which is better than having no job at all. Adult responsibilities are taking care of the family, paying for mortgage and a car. The little money made by the hour is not even a fourth of the money they need to support themselves and all the expenses. Just gas alone will take up a good amount of money needed.
In Spring, Texas there is an area close to the High school with several different fast food places and shops. A Walmart, Kroger, Autozone and many other businesses. These places are recieving applications all day long every day from the nearby high school students and have a steady source of labor to choose from. They have become so selective in the process and reduced teenagers wages since they can easily fire one and get one all in the same day. At Taco bell where I worked they even cut off this Womens hours and cheated her of money from working overtime. They are able to due because they have so many people wanting to work for them that anyone who has a job there better be on time, never do anything bad, never text on the cell phone, and work as hard as possible at all times. Almost like being a slave is what they treat you like. Little could they care less and the managers for this matter are even worse for they give you little amounts of hours and expect a multitude of things. After two weeks worth of work the paycheck comes out to around a hundred dollars. Does this amount of money even pay for the gas to drive to work. Probably not for most teens, and how can they treat people so low. A company needs to realize that treating the employees fairly is the only way they will grow in business no matter what. Cannot keep firing people and wasting time/effort on training someone new. This is extra effort for everyone on the job and no one can work efficiently if one employee is not doing the job.
Now for good students who get all A's in high school, join the national honors society, and even become a member of a Hosa club or any educational club it is even hard for these good kids to get a job. Why? No work experience has been had. With all the time spent on getting wonderful grades its hard for any student to maintain a job and still have enough time for homework, tests and studying for quizzes. How can the workforce treat young teenager in this way? Jobs for teens should be created and the person who thinks of they way in which the great labor pool of high school students could be spending their extra hours or weekends making some good money and not just chump change will be rich forever. So many high school students would absolutely love to have a decent job. Now is this possible with the facts that school is a full time job requiring over forty hours a week plus extra hours put in for homework and studying? How can anyone possibly accomplish all this plus a job if they want to make good grades in school and at the same time not be fatigued all day long. School is considered a job when you have to be there by law and only so many absences are allowed to get credit. Teenagers do not have time to be making some big money at all. Students also need money badly in America and do not have nothing but the small amounts that parents can afford to give. For all this pressure on the parents to support their children it would be a much better decision to give the teens a way to help out the family and themselves by gaining experience in the workforce which is so competitive now days. Instead of spending teens time and school hours on learning about irrelevant topics classes should not focus on facts to be learned and memorized for tests. Work experience is the only key to success! A student can have all the booksmarts possible but when they get out there and cannot work hard then school has failed this child miserably on all levels. A students needs to learn about money, credit, finance, and most of all get a decent amount of work experience to be able to compete with adult who have had years of experience.
A recent resume of a teenager in college went like this; She had great contacts, references, even work experience at Taco Bell. The only problem was that thirty other applicants were applying for the job and only three spots were available. Now with all the college graduates coming out of college with good educations and wonderful degrees/qualifications. It is still hard for the entire majority of young adults coming out of college because no work experience has been obtained. Many jobs require two to three years of experience or more. How can students possibly obtain this amount of experience required when in school and studying to better oneself. No one is a wonderperson who can have two full time jobs at the same time during the same day. Employers are not to blame because they are being selective since such a grand number of applicants are applying for the same job. This is why they can be as choosy as they would like
